i have now had him for 3 days. one of my girls has been sitting on a nest, one egg hatched but there is no sign of the mom. i heard a duckling outside and when i looked out the window saw it was a blue swedish duckling. when i didnt see my girl anywhere i caught him and took him in. there were also no signs of other ducklings hatching besides 2 that didnt make it out of their shell.
his favorite place to sleep is on my shoulder(hes there right now). not sure if ill be able to find/get another duckling for him but im looking. cats do not like him and do their best to avoid him lol. i feel bad that i have not been able to play with the gliders the past few nights but they still get their out of cage time. they just dont come near me probably because of Wall-E. but they also get more out of cage time since i stay up till like 4am with him lol.
this isnt my first time raising an orphan duckling first one was dash but that only went on for a few weeks while we waited for his new friends to be shipped to the store. the next one was dash's son ollie mom was fine she just didnt want to raise him i guess. we found him in the water struggling to get back on the island where the nest was. we ended up raising him from a few days old to the day he had all his feathers and released him in the pond with the other ducks. even then he still invited himself into our house for a visit lol. Both Ollie and Dash are doing great in the pond still. but he doesnt do that any more he has his friends and dad to hang out with. ill be sure to share more pictures as he grows.
