just wondering how often you wipe or wash down your cage? is wiping it down with just a wet rag ok or do i need to use bleach or vinagar etc?

can i use any toys etc that are plastic but not plastic coated such as the madi gra beads?

how do i tell if a cage is pvc or powder coated and is one better than the other?

how do i know if sassy gets a uti?

I personally play it by ear. If the drop pan is dirty, I clean it. Usually every other day. If I walk up to the cage and can smell it, I wipe it down,...and I just use warm water. About once a month I take them outside, I scrub them with soapy water and my car washing brush then powerwash them.

Plastic toys are great...I use mostly plastic. Large Legos are great cuz you can make hidey holes in different shapes and sizes. They have a ball pit that is filled with all plastic toys...army men, easter eggs, plastic golf balls,... To clean I just fill the sink with hot, soapy water. Soak then rinse and let 'em dry on a towel or outside in this hot weather.

I believe PVC has a rubbery feel to it. Powder coating just feels like smooth, textured metal. I personally prefer Powder Coated cages.

She will have trouble urinating and will probably hiss when attempting cuz it's painful.

It doesn't hurt to do a quick wipe down on the cage at least twice a week. I use clorox and water (50/50)

It's safer to use toys that are 'hard plastic' and do not have loose or sharp edges. Before placing any item in with your babies, always check for sharp edges, loose parts, strings, etc.

Powder Coated will have a slight texture. PVC coated looks more like a rubber coating.

One of the prominent indications of a UTI would be when a glider is 'hissing' while urinating, excessive grooming around the cloaca, sometimes they will have a bloody tint to their urine. If you suspect one, always get the glider in asap for a urinalysis and medication. If left untreated, it can develop into a much more serious condition.
