Travel Cage? Help me find one! Empty
PostSubject: Travel Cage? Help me find one!   Travel Cage? Help me find one! EmptyFri Jun 08, 2012 6:41 pm

I really need a suitable travel cage. My 4 gliders live in an exel cage. About 5'x2.5'x1.5'. I am needing a cage about this size that is lighter weight. I went out of town earlier this past month and it was not so fun carting that heavy heifer of a cage around to the glider sitters house.

I was thinking this cage since it is said to be so light weight and flimsy, does anyone have experience with it or another cage they feel is a good travel cage?

I am interested in this thread because I was hoping for some travel cage ideas also. I don't have any experience with the cage you posted but since it says it's flimsy I would be afraid it could fold or bend during transport and the babies could get loose.

One idea I had was to make a PVC cage, but make each panel separate. So when I use it I have to zip tie the sides, front, back, top, and bottom together. That way when it isn't in use I can unzip-tie and store it flat (under a bed).

Let us know what you choose, I might like your idea better:)

Honestly....the first first glider I bought "came with" a PPP cage...I use that as my travel cage for in car-it's not very big but...for something out of car you can get one of those mesh sided dog crate things...it isn't but 3 feet high but they would be ok in it for a short time.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It would be really easy to make one out of PVC and mesh! That way its any size you want it to be.

I am pretty certain I will be making a mesh and pvc one after looking around, people want to much for collapsible cages that are not even big.

Does anyone know a good place to buy the wire like the kind used on the custom cruiser track, I do not like that plastic home improvement store mesh?

I believe the wire used in the custom cruiser track is 'gutter guard', which can be purchased at your local lumberyard (Lowes, Home Depot).
